You have arrived at my web site that serves as a central information point for Martin’s Kitchen which is primarily an online resource for gastrophiles, (I absolutely find the term “foodie” rather off putting and somewhat vulgar) ie: a place to learn a few techniques via the “Video Podcasts” link, find supplies such as hard to find foods and ingredients that are not typically available in some areas, many very useful tools and exquisite appliances for your kitchen, stunning table top accessories and last, but certainly not least, lots of really great cook books and highly recommended reading. Be sure to visit the “Market Place” by clicking the link at the top of this page and you will also be able access to some additional discounts from

And most importantly, it’s also the web based contact point for La Maison, a country French restaurant that serves the tiny colonial village of Coventryville, founded in 1717, a population of 23, located in the northernmost reaches of Chester County, Southeastern Pennsylvania in the bucolic Philadelphia Countryside and just dripping rich with early American history.

La Maison is owned and operated by my wife, Janet, and myself and is located on the first floor of our home, a classic stone house that is nearly 300 years old. Inside, with its beautiful American Chestnut (now extinct) wood plank floors and hand hewn iron hardware, is an otherworldly space of intimate rooms, large fireplaces, warm hospitality and a generous weekly collection of offerings from a kitchen that is completely committed to serving that which is tied closely to the indisputable quality of the seasons, locally sourced and organically grown foods and to providing guests with a memorable experience in an easy, comfortable setting emulating the long standing traditions of the French countryside.

The menu is “table d’hôte” meaning that it is designed in such a way that each offering is presented to our guests at table in an appropriate dish or tureen so that each of our guests can indulge themselves with as much or as little as they wish of any of the items being offered that day. One flat fee is charged for each of our dining guests.

Martin’s Kitchen is also serves as a contact point for Martin Gagné Consulting - a food, conceptual development, marketing and management consulting firm serving restaurants and boutique hotels.
